The Director General, Punjab Emergency Service Dr. Rizwan Naseer carried out a review meeting of Rescue1122 in 24 districts of Punjab to ensure uniform standard of the Service in all districts. This review also helps in evolving an effective preparedness and response strategy and to further enhance the performance of ’s first trained Emergency Service. District Emergency Officers of Lahore, Faisalabad, Rawalpindi, Multan, Bahawalpur, Rahim Yar Khan, Dera Ghazi Khan, Murree, Sialkot, Gujranwala, Sargodha, Sahiwal Jhang, Toba Tek Singh, Muzafargarh, Rajanpur, Mianwali, Pakpattan, Kasur, Gujrat, Bahawalnagar, Jehlum, Attock and Khanewal attended the meeting.The Director General informed the meeting that the rapid urbanization of cities and increase in the industries, high rise buildings and commercial areas have also resulted in the increased number of emergencies especially fire incidents. Although, a modern firefighting Service has been established by Rescue 1122 but without fire hydrants even the best Fire Service in the world cannot do effective firefighting. As it is an essential requirement all over the world, the fire hydrants needs to be installed in the commercial, industrial and high rise buildings. The District Emergency Officers were also asked to update the District Emergency Plans for their respective districts & hold District Emergency Board meetings on regular basis and to ensure the installation of Fire Hydrants in their respective districts as per instructions of the Home Department. Dr. Rizwan Naseer said that Rescuer will maintain the standards of the Service and gain respect and blessings of the public by maintaining a courteous professional approach. The alarming increase in the number of avoidable road traffic accidents and fire incidents necessitates the need to work together for prevention of such emergencies to build a safer .
