Director General, Punjab Emergency Service(Rescue1122) Dr Rizwan Naseer on special instructions of the Chief Minister Punjab, Mian Shahbaz Sharif made a presentation to the Chief Minister NWFP Ameer Haider Khan Hoti to assist in establishing the Rescue 1122 Service in NWFP as a gift from the people of Punjab. The meeting was held at Peshawar in the Chief Minister Secretariat the senior cabinet member’s and heads of all concerned departments also participated in the meeting. Dr Rizwan Naseer informed the Chief Minister NWFP about the Emergency Services Reforms carried out by the Interior Ministry of Pakistan. He also explained how these reforms were implemented in Punjab, started as pilot project from Lahore and expanded to all districts of Punjab as a comprehensive emergency preparedness and response system which has provided citizens with a sense of safety. He said that keeping in view the current emergency situation of NWFP it has become essential to establish an effective emergency Service for proper management of emergencies. Director General as desired by the Chief Minister Punjab, Mian Shahbaz Sharif has presented a complete road map for establishing the Service  in Peshawar on pilot basis which will be later expanded to all Divisional Head Quarters of  NWFP. This road map includes the time frame, PC 1, recruitment criteria for staff and legislation for the Service. He said that the success of the Service is dependent on establishing an effective emergency response system, recruitment of right staff and training on modern lines. The Chief Minister NWFP Ameer Haider Khan Hoti thanked the Chief Minister Punjab and people of Punjab for this kind gesture of brother hood. He also acknowledged the services of Dr Rizwan Naseer as Director General of the ’s first trained emergency medical rescue and fire Service. He also expressed his hope that Director Genera, Punjab Emergency Service (Rescue 1122) Dr Rizwan Naseer would be available to guide them for replicating this model of Rescue 1122 in NWFP.
