Rescue 1122 provided first aid to over 5501 patients while shifted 50 seriously sick to hospital during two sessions of Raiwind Tablighi Ijtimah. Arrangements were made to provide comprehensive emergency cover during Tablighi Ijtimah on special directions of Dr. Rizwan Naseer, Director General, Punjab Emergency Service (Rescue 1122). In this regard Emergency Rescue Center was established with eight beds treatment area along with nine rescue post all around the Ijtimah pandal. Emergency vehicles including emergency ambulances and fire vehicles with specialized disaster response team were deputed at all sensitive areas along with trained emergency staff which has provided patients with immediate pre-hospital emergency cover. Emergency Officers including trained doctors supervised the arrangements during Ijtimah. Raiwind Tablighi Ijtimah has been completed in two sessions from 5^th to 8^th November, 2009 and from 12^th to 15^th November, 2009. It was the third time that Rescue 1122 teams were deputed to provide emergency services for the mass gathering at Raiwind which was over 1.5 millions. These 5551 patients include 5531 which were presented with medical complaints like respiratory tract infections, allergies, gastroenteritis, fever, hypertension and chest pain etc at the Emergency Rescue Centre of Rescue1122. These patients were given medical treatment by trained staff of Rescue 1122 under the supervision of doctors from the Service. 2 patients received with surgical complaints like infected wounds, fractures, head Injuries and bruises etc were also managed by rescue doctors. 50 patients were shifted to Jinnah Hospital by Rescue1122 for hospitalization, which include 36 patients of medical and 14 patients of 19 road traffic accidents occurred during the Ijtimah. Dr. Rizwan Naseer said such arrangements are essential for mass gatherings so that any emergency can be responded in an efficient manner and it is the moral responsibility of citizens to give way to the Rescue Emergency Ambulances and Fire Vehicles. He advised citizens to dial 1122 in case of any emergency. Only timely call can ensure timely rescue, he added.
