The first National Rescue Challenge was concluded at

Academy . Thirteen emergency teams from all over Pakistan participated in the challenge which include Rescue teams from Lahore, Rawalpindi, Faisalabad, Sialkot, Multan, Sargodha, Bahawalpur, R. Y. Khan, D.G. Khan, Sahiwal, Gujranwala, and teams from Government College University, Lahore and LUMS. The challenge was organized with the purpose to encourage emergency services from all over the country to enhance their professional standards and competencies to meet new emergency challenges with increasing number of traffic collisions, mushroom growth of high-rise buildings, risk of chemicals and hazardous material incidents, increasing number of terrorist activities and above all unsafe and risky living practices of the community. In concluding ceremony Director General, Punjab Emergency Service, Dr. Rizwan Naseer said that this National Rescue Challenge coincides with the 5th anniversary of start of Punjab Emergency Service Rescue 1122. He appreciated all the teams for their spirit of competition and professional excellence. The Rescue Challenges events were included Trauma challenge, Collapse Structure Rescue, Fire Drill, Height Rescue, Water Rescue, Hazmat Rescue and Rescue Driving.

University of management sciences participated in trauma challenge. The results of the challenges shall be announced today 14th October, 2009 in an impressive ceremony. Champion district, best Emergency Medical Technician, best Fire Rescuer, best Dert Rescuer, best Driver, best Swimmer will be announced in a final ceremony and Rescue 1122 will be given awards.
