Punjab Emergency Service (Rescue1122) has rescued over 376945 victims of emergencies while carrying out 372546 rescue operations since its inception in October, 2004, while maintaining its average record response time of less than seven minutes in all major cities of
Punjab . The Director General, Punjab Emergency Service (Rescue1122) Dr. Rizwan Naseer reviewed the emergency data to evolve an effective emergency preparedness strategy. The Service is now operational in all major cities of Punjab which includes Lahore, Faisalabad, Rawalpindi, Multan, Bahawalpur, Rahim Yar Khan, Dera Ghazi Khan, Murree, Sialkot, Gujranwala, Sargodha and Sahiwal, while it will be operational in all districts of
Punjab by the end of current year. The total number of emergency victims rescued by Rescue 1122 were 376945 which included 175496 emergency victims in Lahore, 42119 in Faisalabad, 14370 in Rawalpindi, 37705 in Multan, 21041 in Bahawalpur, 16790 in Dera Ghazi Khan, 15619 in Rahim Yar Khan, 12019 in Sahiwal, 3472 in Murree, 10416 in Sialkot, 20198 in Gujranwala and 7700 in Sargodha.The Service has responded to over 372546 emergency calls which included 180623 emergency calls in Lahore, 42898 in Faisalabad, 13664 in Rawalpindi, 37099 in Multan, 20594 in Bahawalpur, 15196 in Dera Ghazi Khan, 12232 in Rahim Yar Khan, 11464 in Sahiwal, 3174 in Murree, 9964 in Sialkot, 17940 in Gujranwala and 7725 in Sargodha.The emergency calls to which Rescue 1122 responded includes 41.07% Road Traffic Accident, 54.17% Medical emergencies, 3.30% Fire incidents, 0.25% Building collapse incidents, 1.03% crime, 0.01 % Drowning case, 0.027%special Rescue operations and 0.062% Explosions. In different incidents Rescue 1122 staff has shown their professional skills while providing timely response such as a Fire case in Aiwan-e-Iqbal, on 22nd August, 2009 where approximately loss of 500 Millions was saved. RESCUE 1122 Fire Service responded with in 5 minutes. The fire was in basement (Conference Hall) which created hurdles in firefighting. Timely response of Rescues 1122 Fire Service restricted the fire and saved significant building from havoc fire destructionRescue1122 Fire Service which is going to complete its second year has conducted over 12,103 operations and saved many fire emergencies from turning into disasters by timely response and fire fighting on modern lines, which helped to save many precious lives and valuables worth over billions. Dr Rizwan Naseer said that after rescuing 376945 emergency victims now the Service has launched public awareness campaign for building safer communities through prevention of emergencies.
